What We're about

Academy of Film Arts offers its students a unique educational experience, focusing on the creative art and technical process of filmmaking. Our courses offer each student an intensive, hands-on experience which gives them the opportunity to develop their creative skills to the fullest extent possible.

      Academy of Film Arts courses study the art of making movies through lectures in a classroom setting as well as hands-on application in order to train its students to be the best filmmakers they can be. The subject of moviemaking is taught with the strict belief that the best way to learn is by doing so, we immerse our students in classroom instruction, lectures, and immediate hands-on experience.

      In Academy of Film Arts workshops, each student will learn producing, directing, or the creative/technical aspect of being a cinematographer. At Academy of Film Arts, we believe the process of storytelling begins with the imagination of the Writer, continues through the vision of the Producer, is given color by the eye of the Cinematographer, is guided by the creative hand and mind of the Director, and brought to life by its hard-working knowledgeable crew.

      In our eight-day immersion workshop, each student will learn and work in the Director, Producer, or Cinematographer roles, as well as work in the various crew positions providing them with real working movie set experience. Academy of Film Arts knows that students always learn by doing and all of our courses give them that opportunity.

      Academy of Film Arts courses are limited in size so that each student is given the individual attention they need in order to understand in detail the filmmaking process from conception to completion.

      Our workshops are extremely intensive, hands-on, immersion workshops and are designed for those who have little or no filmmaking experience. Let’s not forget the individual in the working world who has not given up on their dream of filmmaking. We believe if you can dream it, you can do it.
